It is important to OurRainbow Press to utilize authors and illustrators that are authentic and are experts in their trade.  The first series of board books that we published were created to represent African American families and their experiences.  So it was important that our authors represented the communities that they were writing about.  In most cases, our illustrator used actual pictures of African-American children in their environment.  He also incorporated the different of shades of colors from cream to ebony of children to celebrate the African-American heritage.
